Ostracode.

Here we describe ostracode faunas in shelf deposits in the Gulf Coast of Mexico through the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene, analyzing the biostratigraphy and paleoecology of ostracodes from the Mossy Grove Core, Mississippi. Mossy Grove ostracode faunas suffered gradual extinction and diversity loss in the 150 kyr between 33.96 to 33.81 Ma.

Ostracode. Things To Know About Ostracode.

The stratigraphic distributions of ostracodes and selected calcareous benthic and planktic foraminiferal species were studied in sediment cores from ~ 700 to 2700 m water depth on the Northwind, Mendeleev, and Lomonosov Ridges in the western Arctic Ocean. Microfaunal records in most cores cover mid- to late Quaternary sediments deposited in the last ~ 600 ka, with one record covering the last ~ 1.Two ostracode species were identified in the Três Barras Farm section: Harpabollia harparum (Troedsson, 1918) and Satiellina paranaensis Adôrno and Salas in Adôrno et al., 2016 were recovered ...Abstract and Figures. Ostracode faunas show depth-related changes in the diversity and the density. Conversely, these trends can be employed to estimate paleo-depth. Ostracodes are particularly sensitive to depth changes in the general reach of the shelf. In ancient shelf-sea sediments, the ostracode record can be utilized as a tracer for such changes. The ostracode fauna confirms the age determination of corresponding erratic boulders (Backsteinkalk, 1B2-type) of Northern Germany. Based on stable isotopes from ostracode calcite (δ 18 O OST and δ 13 C OST), seasonal evaporation occurred and the dissolved inorganic carbon pool was unexpectedly enriched in 13 C.
